Victim: Quinta D. Maddox
Location: Troy, Pike County, Alabama
Date: September 3, 2023
Accused: Tyiesha Pollard, his wife
Charges: Murder
Status: Convicted by a jury on October 14, 2026; sentencing set for November 12

Quinta D. Maddox was shot and killed in Troy, Alabama, in September 2023, and on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, a Pike County jury found his wife, Tyiesha Pollard, guilty of his murder. Pollard had told investigators she shot her husband during a struggle after he attacked her, but prosecutors argued that the physical evidence and the autopsy did not support that account.

The jury reached its verdict after several days of testimony and about three hours of deliberations, according to the 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office. Pollard is scheduled to be sentenced on November 12, and local reports say she could face life in prison.

Who Was Quinta Maddox?

Quinta D. Maddox was Tyiesha Pollard's husband. Published reports on the verdict do not give his age or share details about his life, work or family beyond the marriage. Prosecutors made clear, however, that his relatives had pressed for the truth about his death for more than three years. Deputy District Attorney Ternisha Jones said she was glad his family "finally has verification of the truth," which the family had maintained since he died.

What Happened in Troy?

The case began on Sunday, September 3, 2023, as what first looked like a traffic crash. Troy police and Troy Fire and Rescue were called to a single-vehicle wreck involving a pickup truck on Pine Street. Responders found that the driver, later identified as Maddox, had been shot. WAKA reported that he died later at a hospital.

Officers then went to a home in the 600 block of Pine Street. According to prosecutors, Pollard did not tell them about a shooting at that point and instead pointed them toward the Brantley Mobile Home Park for information about the wreck. When officers returned to the Pine Street home, they found evidence outside the house that a shooting had taken place there.

What Pollard Told Investigators

In a formal interview, Pollard said that Maddox had attacked her and that the two struggled over a gun, which ended with him being shot. She also said several shots were fired inside the home. WAKA reported that her account changed during that interview.

Prosecutors told the jury that investigators found no sign of a struggle inside the house and only one bullet hole indoors, near the back door. They said Pollard had picked up the shell casings and thrown them away, which made it impossible to determine exactly where the gun was fired. Prosecutors also said Pollard had no marks or injuries that would point to an attack, and that the evidence showed shots were fired outside the home.

An autopsy by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences found that Maddox was shot twice. Prosecutors said the autopsy findings, including signs that the shots were not fired at close range, were inconsistent with Pollard's version of events.

The Trial and the Verdict

Jury selection began on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, in Pike County Circuit Court, and the trial started the same day. Circuit Judge Henry "Sonny" Reagan presided. Deputy District Attorney Ternisha Jones, also identified in some reports as Ternisha Miles Jones, and Assistant District Attorney Blake Meadows prosecuted the case for the state.

After the verdict, Meadows credited the police work behind the case. "This verdict is a direct result of the thorough investigation conducted by the Troy Police Department in this case," he said, according to WTVY and Wiregrass Daily News. WTVY also reported him saying the evidence helped prosecutors show jurors "all the inconsistencies and holes" in Pollard's version of events.

District Attorney James Tarbox said, "Hard work pays off in the courtroom," and said Maddox's family would be able to close this chapter. His office also thanked the Troy Police Department, Troy Fire and Rescue and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

What Happens Next

Pollard's sentencing is set for Thursday, November 12, at the Pike County Judicial Complex, where Judge Reagan will decide her punishment. WTVY reported that the murder conviction could carry a life sentence. The available reports do not say whether the defense plans to appeal.
